Biographical Info

Margaret (Adrian) Thiessen Hildebrand was born at Danzig, east of Waldheim in 1914. Her parents, Peter and Helen (Janzen) Adrian moved to the Carmen district, north of Waldheim. This is where Margaret began school. After a few years they again moved to Ebenfeld, and in 1925-26, moved to the Lakeburg District, east of Hepburn. At this time all the family were still at home, with the exception of the oldest one – Jake.
In 1939, Margaret married Dietrich Thiessen. Dietrick and Margaret moved to Park Valley after their marriage. They settled south of Big River, where Dietrich had bought land while he worked in a Gold Mine in Ontario during the years 1937-1938. They farmed at Park Valley for six years. During that time Dietrich was elected as pastor for the Mennonite Conference country church during the years 1939-1945.
In 1945, Dietrich and Margaret and two sons – Harvey and Don, and one daughter, Ilene, moved to Waldheim. Dietrich trucked for several years, hauling gravel which was loaded by horse power, later on with better equipment.
In 1955 Dietrich and Margaret bought the farm from Uncle Peter F. Janzen in the Carmen district, where our family grew up, and went to Waldheim School by bus.
In 1976 they moved back to Waldheim
In 1962-1975, they served the Great Deer church besides arming. They also served the Warman Conference church for several years, and moved back to Waldheim from WarmanShe is survived by children; Harvey (Agnes), Don (Rose), Ilene (Errol) Hildebrand, Verna (Jake) Froese, Gerald (Betty Anne), Doreen (Ron) Olfert, Karen (Eugene) Lesser; step-children; Myrna (Jake) Letkeman, Daphne (John) Loewen, Errol (Ilene) Hildebrand, Ruth Hildebrand (daughter-in-law), Verona (Dennis) Bueckert; 23 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild; numerous step grandchildren; siblings, Abe Adrian, Mary (Ed) Roth, Anne Roth, Dave (Helen) Adrian; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Adrian. She was predeceased by her first husband, Dietrich Thiessen; second husband, John Hildebrand; step-sons, Daryl and Wally Hildebrand; parents, Peter and Helena Adrian; and siblings, Jake (Sarah) Adrian and his second wife, Helen; Henry (Elizabeth) Adrian, Helen (John) Warkentin, Peter (Katie) Adrian, John (Marie) Adrian; sister-in-law, Dora Adrian; and brother-in-law Art Roth.
